Michael, Product Manager
Michael has been a qualified financial economist at the Dortmund location since January 2021. Before joining CHECK24, he worked in the tax office for over six years and completed a dual degree in business administration. In this interview, he tells us what he particularly likes about his job and why he switched to CHECK24.
Hello Michael, please introduce yourself briefly.
Michael:
Hello everyone, I am Michael, 30 years old, a graduate in finance, and I have been working at CHECK24’s Dortmund location since January 2021. Here, together with my colleagues, I develop SteuerCHECK, the tax return of the future.
Before joining CHECK24, I worked at the tax office for over six years, where I also completed my dual degree in financial administration.
Why did you move from the tax office to CHECK24 and what are your tasks now?
Michael:
At the tax office, when processing tax returns or carrying out audits, you are bound by strict administrative structures and workflows. This meant I very rarely had creative freedom for my own ideas. That changed when I joined CHECK24. Here, I can help build a new product from scratch and contribute my expertise in both tax law and tax office processes. From idea to implementation usually takes just one day.
A fixed part of our work is modern AI tools. They accompany us every day and make many things faster, smarter, and more exciting. By using them in a targeted way, we can implement ideas in record time and shape our processes more flexibly than ever before. For anyone who enjoys working with the latest technologies in a dynamic environment, there’s plenty of room to contribute and try new things.
At CHECK24, I feel like I can truly “make a difference.” By combining tax expertise with the customer perspective, I can decide how to present complex tax topics to our customers in a simple, question-based way. My task is to make the diverse world of tax law understandable and accessible for everyone. I’m also the go-to person for my colleagues when it comes to implementing tax-related topics.

What do you like most about your job?
Michael:
Many people skip filing their tax returns with the tax office out of convenience, because the process is too time-consuming and the forms too complicated. That’s exactly where our tax team comes in. We want to make it easy for our customers to get a refund from the tax office with minimal effort. And that’s exactly what I love about my job – I can make people a little happier, even with something as dry as taxes. My great team makes the exciting work at CHECK24 even better. Whether it’s darts matches or foosball games, we never miss out on having fun.
