Ludwig, Managing Director
Ludwig has been working at CHECK24 in Augsburg since 2017. He started as a Senior Product Manager, and today he is Managing Director responsible for the motorhome and camper comparison. In this interview, he provides insights into career and development opportunities at CHECK24 and reveals what he looks forward to most when he enters the office in the morning.
Hello Ludwig, please introduce yourself briefly.
Ludwig:
Hi, I'm Ludwig, and I've been with CHECK24 since 2017. I started as Senior Product Manager at AurumCars, our in-house car rental provider. I built the two teams for product management and accounting from day one. Before joining CHECK24, I studied business administration and worked in a management consultancy. Since mid-2022, I have now been Managing Director for our new motorhome and camper comparison.
What exactly are your responsibilities as Managing Director at Camper?
Ludwig:
My day-to-day work is very varied. From negotiating with partners, creating contracts, and recruiting new colleagues, to further developing our product and testing. Every day is different. Some are very creative, such as when we sketch out ideas for our website. Other days, however, are characterized by analytical todo's when we perform market analyses for our marketing campaigns.
How would you describe your leadership style?
Ludwig:
I have a cooperative management style, an open feedback culture, and a touch of humor. The interaction should always be at eye level. Even though my working day is very busy with appointments and coordination, I regularly take time for my colleagues. It is important to me to coach and support them. I think it's great to give someone feedback and then see them implement it on their own and make progress.

How do you feel about the career and development opportunities at CHECK24?
Ludwig:
Looking back, CHECK24 has given me a great career. After starting as a product manager and having the opportunity to build up the two teams at AurumCars, I was promoted to team leader a year later. This promotion was accompanied by pervasive management training. Two years later, I was promoted to Head of Department. During this time, I also developed professionally by taking on new tasks, such as looking after my country and all my partners. At the beginning of 2022, there was the chance to take over the management and develop a new settlement. That's how I got to my current position after an internal process.
You've been with CHECK24 for quite a while now what has been your most remarkable experience so far?
Ludwig:
In fact, it's hard to name the most fantastic experience. In the last few years, we've had many fantastic parties, summer parties, Christmas parties and team events, all legendary. We even went to Mallorca with the Augsburg team and celebrated a very successful year there. Even during the Corona lockdowns, we organized many fun virtual team events, like chocolate tastings or virtual Christmas parties, which were insanely fun.
And finally, tell us, what do you look forward to most when you enter the office in the morning?
Ludwig:
There are a few things I'm looking forward to. In addition to the variety and the exciting tasks, it's the interaction with my colleagues above all. There isn't a day when we don't laugh a lot together, even if things don't go as planned. What also motivates me greatly is to go home with a result at the end of the day. From my consulting work, I know companies where you leave the office at the end of the day and don't know what you've done. That is definitely not the case at CHECK24.
