Natalie has been working as a software developer at CHECK24 Mietwagen in Augsburg since April 2024. In the interview, she talks about how she found her new home through her computer science studies, what she works on in the post-booking area, how she uses AI in the process – and which team moments remain unforgettable for her.
Hello Natalie, please introduce yourself.
Natalie:
Hey, I’m Natalie (some people know me by my nickname: Dagi) and I’ve been working as a software developer at CHECK24 Mietwagen since April 2024. I originally moved to Augsburg for my computer science studies – and I liked it here so much right away that I made Augsburg my new home. All the better for me that our offices are centrally located and I get to be right in the middle of my favorite city every day.
What do you work on as a software developer in the post-booking area?
Natalie:
Post-booking means everything that happens after the booking is completed. This includes, for example, the customer area with functions such as rebooking or canceling a rental car, as well as submitting reviews. If something doesn’t go as planned, customers can report damages or other issues. These are submitted quickly and easily via our claims chat and processed by our application in such a way that the colleagues in customer service can also help just as quickly and easily.
How did you get into software development, and what led you to CHECK24 Mietwagen?
Natalie:
That is mainly my father’s “fault,” who studied electrical engineering and is a real nerd himself (sorry Dad :D). So I grew up surrounded by all kinds of technology and wrote my first lines of code as a teenager. Choosing to study computer science wasn’t far off after that. Through acquaintances, I eventually became aware of CHECK24 as an employer – and acquaintances then turned into my great colleagues.

Where is AI already used in your field of work – and where do you see the greatest potential for the future?
Natalie:
At CHECK24, we use AI, for example to make it easier for customers to submit claims. AI also supports me in my daily coding – for instance when familiarizing myself with new projects or when carrying out simple, repetitive tasks.
I see the greatest potential in AI as an assistant that takes unwanted or boring tasks off my hands so that I can fully concentrate on writing good code.
What do you enjoy most about your work – and what are you looking forward to next?
Natalie:
I really enjoy implementing great features as a team. Our shared goal is always to find the best solution for the customer – and that is hugely motivating.
We are also currently rewriting our software. I’m especially looking forward to this because we are leaving old burdens behind and starting into the future with lots of fresh energy.
And finally: Tell us which team moments have stayed in your memory the most.
Natalie:
Of course, our trip together to Calabria in the summer of 2024 immediately comes to mind. With outstanding weather and one or two cocktails, we were able to spend a truly wonderful weekend together. But during our legendary summer and Christmas parties, at tactical laser tag, or simply during an evening after-work beer, beautiful and funny memories are created again and again.
