Marco, Product Management Spain
Marco has been working as a Product Manager Spain at CHECK24 Car Rentals in Augsburg since March 2024. In this interview, he shares insights into his diverse daily work, talks about the most recently launched feature – and reveals his favorite spots in Augsburg.
Hello Marco, please introduce yourself.
Marco:
Hey, I’m Marco, 26 years old, and I’ve been working as a Product Manager Spain at CHECK24 Car Rentals in Augsburg since March 2024. I studied International Management in Karlsruhe, where my passion for the Spanish language was sparked during a semester abroad in Mexico.
After my studies, I moved to Augsburg specifically for this position, as it combines both my study background and the language.
You're involved in Product Management for CHECK24 Car Rentals Spain – how does this differ from your tasks in the App Team?
Marco:
As a Product Manager focusing on Spain, I’m responsible for the entire rental car product on the Spanish market. Unlike many of my colleagues who specialize in a specific area or device – such as the website or the app – I work across different departments and devices. This makes my work particularly varied and diverse. Depending on the topic, I also coordinate closely with our team in Madrid.
What recent success have you and your team achieved?
Marco:
One of the most exciting projects was the recent launch of the GoldClub in Spain - a benefits program that offers our customers additional services, such as bonus points on bookings and other price advantages.
As a team, we are always particularly proud of major new features like this.
The best thing about CHECK24?
Definitely the team spirit! There are lots of team events where you get to know each other outside of work – that creates a friendly atmosphere and makes working together so much more enjoyable.

What do you particularly enjoy about your role – and what motivates you?
Marco:
What I especially enjoy about my work is the variety: As a Product Manager for Spain at CHECK24, my responsibilities are really wide-ranging – from translations to designing new features and layouts, all the way to data-driven analysis. What excites me the most is seeing a new feature through from the initial idea to implementation and analyzing how customers actually use it.
My role is also very communication-driven: I work closely with our IT team and with colleagues from Spain. This daily exchange always brings new perspectives and makes collaboration really enjoyable.
And finally tell us: What are your favorite places and activities in Augsburg?
Marco:
In the summer, two of my favorite spots in Augsburg are the swimming area at Proviantbach and the Kulperhütte – perfect for a coffee right by the Wertach river. What I particularly appreciate about Augsburg is how close it is to nature and the mountains. On weekends, I often go road cycling or hiking in the Alps. Augsburg also has lots of cozy bars and cafés that add to its charm!
