Katharina, Lead Management Consultant
Katharina has been working at CHECK24 in Leipzig since December 2022, where she is part of the Inhouse Consulting team. In this interview, she tells us about her responsibilities and what surprised her the most when she joined CHECK24.
Hello Katharina, please introduce yourself briefly.
Katharina:
Hi, I'm Katharina, and I work as a Lead Management Consultant at CHECK24 Travel. I moved to Leipzig for my master’s degree with a firm plan to go into classic strategy consulting afterward and leave Leipzig again. However, at CHECK24, I quickly realized that as a management consultant, I don't have to choose between strategy and execution—I can combine both. This combination immediately fascinated me, which is why I’m now in my third year here.
What exactly are your responsibilities as a management consultant at CHECK24 Travel?
Katharina:
As a management consultant in the package travel sector, I work on a variety of cross-departmental and project-based topics with different teams. My tasks range from concept development to the launch of new product features, as well as strategically relevant operational and conceptual questions, and exciting future topics like artificial intelligence and large language models. I get to learn something new every day, and—most importantly for me—I can oversee projects from the initial idea to final implementation and track the entire development process.

What can you tell us about your career at CHECK24?
Katharina:
At CHECK24, I can explore different topics and teams while taking on responsibility for projects. I find working with AI and LLMs in a dynamic environment particularly exciting. What I appreciate the most: The learning curve is incredibly steep, the development opportunities are fantastic—and at the same time, the work atmosphere is very personal. A perfect mix of challenge and team spirit!
What surprised you the most when you started at CHECK24?
Katharina:
Honestly? How tangible and authentic the company values are—they’re not just empty promises but truly part of everyday life. Communication happens across all hierarchy levels, and despite our size in the package travel sector, decision-making paths are short and efficient. Looking back, my time at CHECK24 has shown me how much I still had to learn after university—and how much I’ve been able to grow both professionally and personally through close collaboration with my colleagues.
And finally, tell us about your funniest experience at CHECK24!
Katharina:
Definitely a silent party at a Product Manager Summit in Munich. We danced with headphones on to completely different music genres—alongside product managers from all CHECK24 business units!
