Team Search is part of CHECK24’s AI Forge GmbH - a dynamic environment where AI solutions for all products within the CHECK24 universe are developed and which serves as the nucleus for innovation in machine learning services. Our Search acts as a crucial entry and navigation point for countless customers every day. It consists of three search services in one: classical e-commerce product search, web search as well as travel related search (hotels, destinations etc.). The rapid development of Large Language Models and therefore customer expectations means innovation and excellent delivery are crucial for our success going forward.
 
Working as a Teamlead (m/f/d) Data Scientce at AI Forge offers numerous opportunities for personal and professional development. Your skills

  • Master’s degree or PhD in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, electrical engineering or a comparable course of study
  • Hands-on experience in developing machine learning services in Search, Natural Language Processing (e.g., Large Language Models), Recommender Systems, or other areas (4-5 years)
  • Previous experience in leading Data Science teams
  • Practical experience in building scalable ML infrastructure and solving technical challenges (in cloud or on premise, including deploying microservices using FastAPI, Docker, and ML libraries such as Tensorflow or PyTorch)

Your responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Oversee the design, development, and implementation of advanced machine learning algorithms (incl. information retrieval, ranking, classification) to enhance search engine performance
  • Team Management: Lead a team of 4-6 data scientists, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development
  • MLOps and Scalability: Ensure the deployment and management of scalable and maintainable machine learning services through effective MLOps practices
  • Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, driving innovation within the team
  • Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with stakeholders (CHECK24 management, IT and stakeholders from business units) to ensure right priority and support best possible user search experience
