After her master's degree in journalism and communication science, Viktoria joined CHECK24 as an online editor. She is responsible for our website and writes creative and first-class texts. In this interview, you can find out what she likes so much about writing.
My name is Viktoria, I am 30 years old and a native of Styria. After my A-levels, I moved to Vienna to complete an acting apprenticeship. About a year ago, I completed my Master's in "Journalism and Communication Studies" at the University of Vienna. Since then, I have been working at CHECK24 as an editor.
I am currently writing articles for our website. First, I plan and develop the content, research, and filter out relevant information. Then, when it comes to the program items and the choice of topics, I orient myself as well as possible to our audience's interests. I also add the finished texts to the website and suggest a suitable structure. To do this, I work closely with IT and product management.
Writing texts is a versatile and multi-faceted task with which I can express my creativity. While writing, I find myself in a world of my own, which promotes my concentration and the development of my artistic talent. In addition, writing drives my personal growth and further education enormously. All this contributes to my enjoyment of the whole writing process.
Enthusiasm, passion and balance.
My job is very diverse and multi-faceted, allowing me to express my creativity.
Viktoria, Online Editor
Skills such as organizational talent, independence, willingness to learn, resilience, creativity, and open-mindedness are helpful for a career in editing. Broad general knowledge and interest in various topics and aspects are also beneficial. You should also have a good command of German grammar and spelling.
In the morning, I first check my emails and messages on Slack - the platform we use for internal communication. Then I greet the employees who are already in the company. Next, I always make a to-do list to overview the day's tasks, errands, and meetings. Finally, I consult with my colleagues about individual tasks before working on them, if necessary.
In the last hour of my working day, I check whether all relevant tasks have been adequately completed and cross them off my to-do list if successful. As a result, it can get hectic before I finally close the laptop, leave my workplace and say goodbye to my colleagues.
My favorite place in the CHECK24 office is the large common room with a kitchen, gaming area, and lots of seating. It's incredibly cozy there when all the employees - from the IT, Product Management, Human Resources, and Credit Consulting departments - eat lunch together. In addition to exciting, cross-divisional conversations, good friendships are also formed.
