Philip has been working at CHECK24 in the automotive insurance department for eight years now. Currently based in Munich, he is overseeing the new online registration product. You can find out more about what exactly this entails and discover the biggest challenges in the new product release in the interview.

Hello Philip, please introduce yourself briefly.
Philip:

I am Philip and have been with CHECK24 in the automotive insurance sector for eight years – the first product with which CHECK24 started back then. In the automotive sector, I am primarily responsible for all matters after customers have chosen a car insurance. However, currently, I am heavily involved in our latest product – online registration.

You are here today to introduce a new product to us – online registration. What exactly can one envision with that?
Philip:

Since September 2023, companies like CHECK24 are allowed to offer online registration. With this, we provide our customers with a completely digital alternative to on-site registration – no need for appointments at the registration office, conveniently done from home. The best part: In many cases, customers receive proof shortly after completing the online registration, allowing them to hit the road right away with appropriate license plates. The documents and stickers then arrive by mail a few days later, directly from the registration office. This not only saves time but is also more cost-effective than on-site registration. We launched our product in November and have already received a lot of positive feedback from our customers.

What was the biggest challenge in the new product release for you and your team?
Philip:

The biggest challenge was undoubtedly the complex interaction between the various stakeholders involved in the entire registration process. It required aligning many factors, such as the requirements and technical conditions of the Federal Motor Transport Authority, integrating a suitable identity verification process, and, as always, adhering to a tight timeline. However, we managed to keep it on track in our speedboat manner as planned.

The best thing about CHECK24?

I enjoy going to work every day, primarily because of my team and the other colleagues at CHECK24 with whom I collaborate daily. We are all pulling in the same direction here, and it's truly a lot of fun to collectively drive forward the topics and projects.

How often are there new features with you?
Philip:

We release new features daily – ranging from small to larger adjustments, optimizations, and bug fixes. For us, the key is that a feature is only useful if it reaches our customers. That's why we aim to be as swift as possible with the release of new features.

Together with your team, you won a Guideline Award this year, tell us about it!
Philip:

For several years, the Guideline Awards have been a integral part of CHECK24. As a team, you can apply if you believe that a project has particularly aligned with one of our guidelines. In our case, we applied with the online registration project, aligning it with the 'agile speedboats' guideline. During implementation, we had to navigate many obstacles, make some swift turns, and still managed to reach our destination on time. This is only possible when everyone is in the same boat – and we are very pleased to have been awarded the recognition. Now, we still need to decide what to do with the prize money – with €500 per person, we can certainly come up with something nice.

And finally, tell us, what does the future of online registration look like for you?
Philip:

With online registration, we have now established the foundation for customers to handle this process digitally from anywhere. In addition to securing an affordable and high-performance car insurance, our customers can now also complete the online registration through CHECK24, which is, of course, a strong overall package! We will continue to expand, enhance, and add meaningful features to our product. We have several ideas on how to make the service even more user-friendly and transition some of the analog steps into the digital realm. We will drive the digitization in Germany at full throttle. It will definitely be exciting!
