Isabel and Benedikt both work for the Sales & Accounts team located in Berlin and share insights of their roles and everyday working experiences.
My name is Isabel and I studied technical management and marketing in Hamm. After my studies, I joined CHECK24 in Munich and have now been here since February 2018.
Hi, I’m Benedikt and I’ve been working as a Junior Sales and Account Manager since June 2020 for CHECK24 Shopping for the “Toys” comparison product. I’m from near Göttingen and studied business administration in Nuremberg, but also spent some time in Bangkok and Peking.
My tasks involve approaching new partners and integrating them to the CHECK24 marketplace for Baby & Toys. I am also responsible for the ongoing improvement and further development of existing partnerships, which includes finding rapid solutions for any customer problems.
I acquire new partners and provide guidance for existing online shops which are willing to sell their toy products via our platform.
I love new challenges that arise each day and developing solutions self-reliant or within my team.
The contact with business owners on the one hand and, on the other hand, experiencing first-hand how much work goes into creating a good online shopping experience. We all work with a high degree of personal responsibility, so I learn something new every day, which makes my job very exciting.
As an early bird, I start work at 8 am and, like Benedikt, with a quick glance back at what happened the day before on the marketplace for Baby & Toys. During the day, I am responsible for approaching new partners, performance reviews and developing existing partnerships. Customer issues also have to be resolved quickly so it’s definitely not boring.
I usually start at 9 am and check my shops’ performance, i.e. how much we have sold, how many purchases were cancelled or any problems that occurred. Each day, we have a stand-up meeting at 9:30 with our other colleagues, providing us the opportunity to discuss anything. Both in the morning and afternoon, it’s my job to contact potential partners and find out whether they would fit in a collaboration with us. I also work on various projects, such as new features for our partner portal. At lunchtime, we always have lunch together with our colleagues.
‘Flat hierarchies’ and ‘personal responsibility’ are buzzwords listed in every job description. However, I have truly experienced these characteristics here. I learn something new every day, which makes my job very exciting.
Benedikt, Account Manager
I think it's really appealing that our Managing Director and Head of Department also work in the same office as we do. This means that difficult topics can be discussed directly and decisions made quickly. In addition to team events, we sometimes have a compulsory after-work beer with the team.
Our team consists of three Account Managers, two Sales Managers and one Purchasing Manager. The areas of Toys, Baby & Child Products, Adult Furniture etc. are distributed among us. However, we support each other when we have any questions or issues with acquisitions. The regular team events are great as loads of employees attend them. Although I only joined CHECK24 last year, I’ve been able to meet lots of colleagues through these events, even though I don’t interact with them on a daily basis.
I really enjoy our team set-up. Among every employee as well as executives, including the Managing Director, everyone is treated equally. This creates a fantastic work atmosphere and a relaxed, family-like environment within the team. The high degree of personal responsibility means you can bring your own ideas to the table and drive the market with suggestions for new features, which is what we want.
‘Flat hierarchies’ and ‘personal responsibility’ are buzzwords listed in every job description. But I have truly experienced these characteristics here. This can be seen in the fact that we don’t waste time in pointless meetings where we have to discuss things with lots of other departments. We typically have small discussion groups and fast decision-making channels. We always leave our meetings with a concrete to-do list.
