Sven, Director Insurance Comparison Platform
Sven joined CHECK24 in 2017 as Managing Director and started building a comparison platform for smaller insurance products and niche insurance. He is now the Managing Director in this area and leads the central Insurance Center.
Hello Sven, please introduce yourself briefly.
Sven:
I studied Business Informatics at TU Braunschweig and the Cooperative State University in Stuttgart, graduating with a diploma. Before joining CHECK24 in 2017, I worked in an international IT consultancy, primarily focusing on IT transformation projects in the banking and insurance sectors.
At CHECK24, I started as a Managing Director by building a comparison platform for smaller and niche insurance products, enabling us to launch new insurance comparisons quickly and efficiently. I have since taken over the management of this area and, since 2024, have also been leading our central Insurance Center.
What exactly are your responsibilities as Managing Director? Do you have a ‘typical daily routine’?
Sven:
As an employed Managing Director in the insurance sector, I have overall responsibility for operational management and strategic direction. My daily routine is diverse and covers a variety of tasks.
My mornings often begin with analyzing current business figures and market trends. I review key metrics such as website visits, generated conversions on our comparison site, our Google rankings, and customer satisfaction.
A significant part of my role involves leading and motivating employees. I hold regular meetings with colleagues and managers from software development, product management, and customer service to discuss project progress, identify challenges, and develop solutions. Creating a positive corporate culture is especially important to me, as a motivated team is key to sustainable success. This also includes defining new job roles and hiring the right new colleagues.
Additionally, I am responsible for developing and implementing CHECK24-wide business goals within my area. This includes new central features for our customers, such as AI-based chat solutions, loyalty programs, and marketing initiatives. Maintaining business relationships is also a key part of my role—I regularly engage with our insurance comparison partners to strengthen collaborations and explore new market opportunities.
In short, my workday is a mix of strategic planning, operational management, and leadership tasks—where you often don’t know in the morning what challenges the afternoon will bring.

What do you love most about your job?
Sven:
What I love most about my job is the direct interaction with my colleagues and employees—recognizing strengths, identifying opportunities for targeted development within CHECK24’s training programs, and seeing their professional growth. I really appreciate the open exchange and trust we build together.
Beyond my own area of responsibility, I also enjoy engaging with other insurance verticals within the company, sharing experiences, developing ideas, and, of course, celebrating successes together.
What do you focus on when leading your team?
Sven:
I place great emphasis on open communication. Building trust and delegating responsibility is essential so that my employees can work independently and fully develop their potential. At the same time, I provide support and constructive feedback to foster both personal and professional growth.
A respectful working environment, appreciation, and a positive team atmosphere are crucial—especially in an internationally operating team—to strengthen motivation and team spirit.
Are there any particularly exciting projects your team is currently working on?
Sven:
Right now, we are working on a campaign for our existing customers in the moped and e-scooter sector, who require a new insurance license plate for their vehicle each year. We want to remind these customers about their expiring coverage and offer them the option to renew their policy for the next insurance year with just one click.
For this, we integrate various communication channels within the CHECK24 ecosystem, such as classic email notifications, alerts in the customer account and CHECK24 app, and reminders on our comparison pages—including our AI-powered chat solution.
The focus is on providing a seamless and transparent renewal process. We leverage existing customer data from previous policies, such as vehicle manufacturer, vehicle identification number, and preferred payment method.
What excites me most about this project is how my team collaborates, brings in new ideas, and critically evaluates existing approaches.
And finally: What career advice would you give your younger self?
Sven:
That’s an interesting question. I would advise my younger self to stay curious and open to new experiences. If there’s one constant in life, it’s change—and you should learn to embrace it rather than fear it. Ask questions, actively seek feedback, and take every opportunity to learn. Don’t be afraid to take on responsibility and share your ideas.
At the same time, be patient with yourself—growth takes time. The key is to stay persistent and view challenges as opportunities. Start networking early and exchange ideas with colleagues, as learning from others will help you grow.
Most importantly: Stay authentic, show commitment, and enjoy what you do. The rest will follow in time.
