Sotiris has been working in customer service at CHECK24 Rental Car since 2012 and has successfully climbed the management ladder over the years. In this interview, he shares his key to success for a career in customer service.
I am Sotiris, a proud father of two wonderful daughters, aged 6 and 9. I started at CHECK24 in 2012 when the travel sector was still relatively small, and since then, I’ve had the opportunity to accompany the significant growth in customer service. I am a passionate tourist and love to travel, experience foreign cultures, and explore cities – always with a rental car, of course!
In my last role as Head of Department, I was responsible for customer management in the car rental sector and led a dedicated team of nine team leaders. I ensured the smooth running of daily operations, implemented business strategies, and took care of employee recruitment, development, and retention.
Close collaboration with other departments and the next management level provided me with valuable insights, which I now bring into my role as Managing Director Customer Service. In this position, I have the opportunity to actively shape the company strategy and consistently drive our focus on delivering the best possible customer experience and customer satisfaction.
We are like speedboats – flexible, decisive, and always on the move.
Sotiris, Managing Director Customer Service
There have been many wonderful experiences in customer service over the past twelve years, but I particularly remember the moments when we could truly help customers with their problems. It's always a great joy to receive positive feedback from customers who thank us for our support.
Equally valuable are the satisfied responses from my team. When I see that our work not only benefits the customers but also has a positive impact on my colleagues, it's always a great experience.
Cooperation and networking – Building a network with partners and other teams promotes cross-departmental thinking and helps with positioning within the company.
Process optimization and strategic thinking – Continuously looking for ways to improve processes through strategic thinking and efficient problem-solving is extremely valuable for the company and can quickly lead to more responsible positions.
Strong leadership skills and teamwork – It’s important not only to make decisions but also to promote communication and inspire the team to achieve shared goals.
