Nasrin, Senior Software Developer
Nasrin has been working at CHECK24 in Cologne since June of this year, where she is a software developer in the mobile communications division. Before pursuing her career abroad, she studied and worked in Iran. In this interview, you can learn more about her relocation process and her path from Iran to Germany.
Hello Nasrin, please introduce yourself briefly.
Nasrin:
I'm Nasrin, 30 years old, and since June 2023, I have been working as a software developer at CHECK24 in the Mobilfunk bundle team in Cologne. I studied Computer Software Engineering in Iran, and then due to my interest in programming, I started working as an Android Developer. After almost eight years, last year, I got a Job offer from CHECK24 to immigrate to Germany and continue my professional life here.
Why did you decide to start at CHECK24 as a software developer?
Nasrin:
After eight years of working in large companies in Iran, I decided to continue my career in international companies. While looking for a job opportunity abroad, I stumbled across the company CHECK24 on LinkedIn. After a bit of research, I discovered that CHECK24 is one of the most successful companies in Germany. So, what is better than this? In addition, by checking the LinkedIn page of this company, I realized that many Iranians are currently working at CHECK24, which gave me even more motivation.
How did your relocation process go?
Nasrin:
Unfortunately, the relocation process took a long time for me, but the best part of this journey was the great support and help of the human resources colleagues and the team's technical leader, which was a great strength for me. The help started the moment I received a job offer and continued until and after my arrival in Germany.
What is the craziest thing you discovered in Germany?
Definitely the weather! Wearing a jacket, cold weather and so much rain in the middle of summer was unbelievable for me, how is it even possible?

How do you feel about being a woman in IT?
Nasrin:
Working as a woman in IT can sometimes be difficult because you have to work harder to prove your abilities. Still, the day I started working at CHECK24, the technical team lead told me that the most important thing for them is your technical abilities, not your gender and that we are all human and should be respected equally.
Starting in a new country is a big step. How did CHECK24 support you in this?
Nasrin:
As I mentioned above, CHECK24 supported me in all aspects. Before arriving in Germany, I got support obtaining a visa and administrative work. After arriving in Germany, they helped me find a house, open a bank account and do other administrative work. In short, it would have been challenging without the help of CHECK24.
And finally, tell us how you like your first weeks at the CHECK24 location in Cologne?
Nasrin:
Honestly, I'm really happy to be in my team. My teammates sincerely try to make me feel good to be with them as a new joiner. Of course, tasks are generally easier in the first weeks, but now, after nearly three months, we are developing new features, which is really exciting for me.
