Narges has been a software developer at CHECK24 in the mobile communications department (Mobilfunk) since June 2021. During the interview, she told us about her journey to CHECK24 and why you should stick to your dreams, no matter what.
I'm Narges, 32 years old, and since June 2021, I have been working as a software developer at Check 24 in the Mobilfunk bundle team in Cologne. First, I studied pure mathematics in Iran, and then due to my interest in programming, I started self-learning and then working in software development. So after that, I changed my university major to software engineering. Finally, last year, I got a Job offer from CHECK24 to immigrate to Germany and continue my professional life here.
I was very stressed at the beginning of work, as usual. Still, with a specific plan, my career started with small tasks, and due to the friendly environment of Check24 and my welcoming colleagues, I could quickly do jobs with a higher degree of difficulty.
Most of the tasks are technically exciting and sometimes challenging, but they are super attractive to me.
The first thing that caught my attention after starting work here was the discipline and structured work environment, which means that the work is always clear and calm, and there is no such thing as clutter and crowding that can be seen in some IT companies. My most significant point here is that the team's immediate attention is the quality of the code, and we try our best to make the software have the best technical quality.
Working at CHECK24 is not dull; The colleagues are always there as true friends, and you can count on them for any matter.
The company's atmosphere is always happy, lively, and spirited, and there is always an event or a party for any reason, even a small one in the office.
Narges, Software Developer
Unfortunately, I have to say yes, the gender distribution in IT is still not balanced. I remember that I’ve always worked hard to work as a developer and proved myself many times because it was always more complicated as a woman in IT. But I must say that when I entered this company, I was surprised by respect and equality. On the first day, my team leader told me that we are all human and should be respected equally, and this will remain in my heart forever.
I used to have minimal self-confidence, which was always a problem for my improvement. But now I say that when you are motivated for something, nothing, not even gender, can stop you, so with self-confidence, you have to try, and the result of the effort is always evident.
We use Kanban. Our product managers are technically very well versed and formulate issues and stories so that they will take about a day's work. They also prioritize the tickets and develop a release plan. In my opinion, this process works very well for us.
It is precious for me that all my efforts are seen in the company, and I can imagine that with my attempt and perseverance, I can progress in this company. My career's best and most worthwhile goal is to master the project and become a lead developer.
