Lara works as a student trainee in performance marketing in Leipzig, where she is responsible for the package tour sector. In the interview, she talks about how studying and working can be combined and reveals why she decided to gain practical experience while still studying.
Hello Lara, please introduce yourself briefly.
Lara:
My name is Lara, I am 25 years old and live in Leipzig. Since April 2022, I have worked at CHECK24 as a working student in Performance Marketing for the package tour sector. As a working student, I can put the theoretical content of my Master's degree in online communication directly into practice and learn many new things simultaneously.
How was your start at CHECK24?
Lara:
My start at CHECK24 was hot and professional. Numerous training sessions, meetings, and coffee talks gave me a successful start in the team. Even after several months at CHECK24, trainings are still on the agenda so the learning curve is still "steep." Team events and regular team lunches have also allowed me to get to know the team outside the office.
What exactly are your tasks in performance management?
Lara:
Although regular appointments roughly structure my day, no two workdays are the same. The focus of my work is on the SEA campaigns of the CHECK24 package holiday product. My tasks are very varied and range from creating Google Ads campaigns to daily reporting and analyzing performance.

After only a short time, I was able to take on responsibility and am involved in a wide range of projects.

How can you combine studying and working at CHECK24?
Lara:
Due to the flexible working hours and the individual arrangements that are possible at any time, the working student position integrates well into my student life. Through my time as a working student, I have already gained important insights into the working world during my studies. I can take on to-dos independently and get to know the most diverse aspects of online marketing. I particularly like the practical experience, which unfortunately often comes up short in the lecture hall. As a working student, I can already find out during my studies what I enjoy, which areas suit me, and what my professional future should look like. In addition, CHECK24 offers the possibility of direct entry into the online environment after graduation.
What makes your team unique? How do you feel about the cooperation?
Lara:
I particularly appreciate the flat hierarchies and the opportunity to implement my own projects. I was able to take on responsibility after only a short time and am involved in implementing various projects. Ideas and constructive criticism are always listened to, so I never feel "labeled" as a working student. Regular feedback meetings make me feel valued, and I notice that my work positively influences the result.
