Peer is one of the "Profis" in Berlin and helps to broker local services. He started in 2017 as an Intern in Business Development and is now the Head of the Department (HoD) for Product Management and soon-to-be Product Owner for the Lessons & Events area.
In 2016, I finished my Bachelor's in Economics at the Rhenish Friedrich Wilhelm University of Bonn. Afterward, I wanted to do a few internships and, while talking to someone at a party, coincidentally heard about askCharlie. In 2017, I started an internship there in Business Development. After CHECK24 took over askCharlie (now CHECK24 Profis), I finished my internship and took a permanent position as a Junior Business Development Manager. During the first two years, I was able to drive many things forward and, through lots of fun and dedication, I was given the opportunity to manage my own Team - after only 2 years. So, I became Team Leader for the Business Development area in 2019. In 2020, I switched to Product Management as Lead for Digital User Experience to conceptualize and coordinate the cross-team features for Profis. At the end of 2020, I moved from Team Leader for Product Management to our App team, primarily responsible for the Profi app (B2B app). In the middle of this year, I became Head of Department, and, in this role, I’ll help to expand the Lessons & Events product areas.
I had the opportunity to take on a variety of tasks and to familiarize myself with the product from many different angles - from data-heavy analysis tasks through Business Development to the technical development of features in Product Management. In addition, the Profis business has grown significantly, and I quickly became one of the most senior employees by tenure so that people would consult me about various topics.
We want to build the Events & Lessons areas into an independent product area, for which I’ll be responsible. In addition to administrative tasks, I will focus on the further development and expansion of my area. To me, this means the conceptualization and implementation of new product features to better serve our customers and service providers.
We have an informal and relaxed yet focussed work atmosphere. This leads to an incredibly fast development time - we can implement newly planned features directly on-site with our developers.
Peer Rahne, HoD Product Management
I expect my employees to get actively involved - the best idea wins, no matter whose it is. I give general guidance but want my colleagues to act as freely as possible to find solutions. I see myself as an advisor and sparring partner to achieve goals and help answer questions as quickly as possible so that everyone can work together productively.
We usually start with a stand-up meeting with the team. This is where we discuss upcoming topics and tasks. This is generally followed by concept work or individual discussions of current issues with our developers. I’ll attend meetings to implement current projects from time to time.
Since I am currently responsible for the B2B app (‘Profis app’) for our service providers, some of my work involves upcoming testing releases. This is also my highlight because they are the result of the team's many hours of hard work and mean an improvement for all of our users.
It is crucial to rely on the quality of every individual’s work. In addition, everyone should take on a certain degree of responsibility for their task area. But above all, everyone should keep sight of our goal and do their best to support it.
I would say that I work in a very young, ambitious team. Everyone helps each other, and there is no politics. We have loads of fun at work and often joke around; but the team events and company celebrations are our real highlight - the perfect balance to our daily work.
I like the fast development time - we can implement newly planned features directly on-site with our developers. We are very flexible regarding prioritization: essential topics can be spontaneously brought forward and immediately implemented. We have an informal and relaxed yet focused work atmosphere. Last but not least - complete customer focus - it’s about building the best possible product for the user, and that’s a lot of fun! We’re happy when the customer is happy.
